Cookie Policy

Cookie Policy

Effective from: 17 August 2026

Last updated: 17 August 2026

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies we use on www.highsparksilver.com, and how you control them. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. It lets the site remember things between pages and between visits — what's in your cart, whether you're logged in, which language you chose.

We also use related technologies that work the same way: local storage (data kept in your browser), pixels and tags (tiny files that record that a page loaded), and server-side session records tied to an identifier in a cookie. Everything in this policy applies to all of them.

2. Your choice

Where we are today, stated plainly. We are currently implementing a cookie consent banner. Until it is live, the analytics and advertising cookies described in sections 3.2 and 3.3 are set by default when you visit the Site.

You can opt out right now, without waiting for the banner. Email our Grievance Officer at grievance@highsparksilver.com and ask to be suppressed. We will action it within 7 days, it covers every advertising and analytics use described in this policy, and it is permanent until you ask us to reverse it. You can also block these cookies yourself in your browser today — section 5 explains how, and doing so has no effect on your ability to browse, buy, return or claim warranty.

When the banner is live it will offer Accept all, Reject all and Manage preferences category by category, nothing beyond strictly necessary cookies will be set until you choose, you will be able to change your mind at any time from a "Cookie preferences" link in the footer, and we will re-ask every 12 months so an old choice does not bind you indefinitely. We will update this section on the day that goes live.

3. Categories we use

3.1 Strictly necessary — always on

These make the Site work. They cannot be switched off, and they are not used for advertising or analytics.

Cookie Purpose Life
`cart`, `cart_sig`, `cart_ts` Remembers your shopping cart Up to 2 weeks
`checkout_token`, `secret` Runs checkout securely Session to 3 weeks
`_secure_session_id`, `_shopify_u` Keeps your session and account details working Session to 1 year
`secure_customer_sig`, `storefront_digest` Keeps you logged in Up to 1 year
`_ab` Access control on the store admin Session
`hs_auth`, `csrf_token` Authentication and cross-site request protection on our own systems Session
`_tracking_consent` Remembers your cookie choice 1 year

Legal basis: necessary to provide the service you asked for. Consent is not required for these, and none of them profile you.

3.2 Analytics — your choice

Tell us how the Site is used so we can improve it — which pages are slow, where people drop off, whether a new layout works.

Cookie Set by Purpose Life
`_shopify_s`, `_s` Shopify Session tracking for store analytics 30 minutes
`_shopify_y`, `_y` Shopify Unique-visitor analytics 1 year
`_landing_page`, `_orig_referrer` Shopify Records how you arrived 2 weeks
`_ga`, `_ga_*` Google Analytics Site usage measurement Up to 2 years
First-party session identifier HighSpark Groups your visit so we can measure genuine traffic and filter automated bots 30 days

3.3 Advertising and marketing — your choice

Measure whether our advertising works and, where relevant, show you our products on other sites.

Cookie Set by Purpose Life
`_gcl_au`, `_gcl_aw` Google Records an ad click so a later purchase can be attributed to it 90 days
`_fbp` Meta Same, for Facebook and Instagram advertising 90 days
`_shopify_sa_p`, `_shopify_sa_t` Shopify Marketing and referral attribution 30 minutes
Click identifiers (`gclid`, `gbraid`, `wbraid`, `fbclid`, `utm_*`) Stored by us from the link you arrived on Attribute a sale to the campaign that produced it 90 days

We also send Google an irreversibly hashed version of your email address and phone number with a purchase, so it can match the sale to an ad click that our own records lost. Section 9 of our Privacy Policy explains this in full.

If you opt out — by email today, or through the banner once it is live — none of the above happens: no click identifier is stored, no conversion is reported, and no hashed identifier is sent.

3.4 Functional — your choice

Remember preferences such as your wishlist, recently viewed items, and whether you have dismissed a notice. Typically up to 1 year.

4. Cookies set by others

Some cookies above are set by Shopify, Google and Meta rather than by us. We choose those providers and we are accountable for including them, but the data they collect is also governed by their own policies:

5. Controlling cookies in your browser

You can block or delete cookies yourself in your browser settings, which works today and does not depend on our banner:

  • Chrome — Settings › Privacy and security › Third-party cookies
  • Safari — Settings › Privacy
  • Firefox — Settings › Privacy & Security
  • Edge — Settings › Cookies and site permissions

Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break checkout and login. Blocking the rest will not.

You can also opt out directly at Google Ad Settings, Google Analytics opt-out, Meta ad preferences and optout.aboutads.info.

6. Do Not Track

Browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal, but the industry never agreed what it should mean, so we do not act on it. Email us instead (section 2) — we do act on that, and once our consent banner is live you will be able to use that too.

7. Bot detection

We record technical signals — request patterns, timing, user agent — to tell automated scrapers apart from real visitors. This keeps the Site fast and our stock and pricing accurate. It is a strictly necessary function, it is not used for advertising, and it does not build a profile of you.

8. Changes and contact

We will update this policy when our cookies change, and the "last updated" date above will tell you when.
