November Birthstone: Citrine, and Why We Sell It Two Ways
Share
Citrine is November's stone on our own birthstone line, and it's an easy one to place: warm, golden, closer to honey than yellow. If you already wear Gold-Plated pieces, this is the stone that sits naturally next to them. Cooler stones fight that warmth a little. Citrine doesn't.
One stone, going deep
We mention birthstones as tradition and folklore only, never as something a stone does for the wearer, and the custom itself varies by region and family. What's fixed is the colour: citrine runs from pale straw to a deep amber-gold, and the deeper end is what most people picture when they hear the word. It reads warm under daylight and indoor light alike, which is why it works as an everyday stone, not an occasion-only one.
Genuine citrine, and where we set it
We hold real citrine, and it goes into the Citrine Gemstone Stud Earrings for Women, the Citrine Gemstone Pendant Set, the Citrine Ring | Martini Solitaire, Adjustable, the Raw Citrine Hoop Earrings, and the Raw Citrine Locket Pendant. These are the actual mineral, set in 925 sterling silver, and no two pieces match exactly in tone, the way a natural stone never does.
American Diamond citrine, and where that goes
We also set citrine's colour in 5A+ American Diamond, top-grade cubic zirconia, not the mineral itself. That's the Citrine Solitaire Birthstone Earrings, the November piece on our own birthstone series, along with the Citrine Birthstone Pendant Necklace and the Citrine Birthstone Solitaire Stud & Pendant Set. We say this plainly rather than let the colour do the talking: American Diamond gives you a matched pair every time, cut to one specification, which genuine citrine can't promise across two earrings. If you want a stud-and-pendant set that lines up exactly, this is the version to buy. If you want the real mineral, buy the gemstone pieces instead, and expect small variation as the honest cost of that.
Raw citrine is its own decision
The Raw Citrine Hoop Earrings and Raw Citrine Locket Pendant use rough-cut, unfaceted stone rather than a polished cut. Every piece is different: the shape, the exact shade, sometimes small internal marks that a faceted stone would have cut away. That's the appeal if you want something unrepeated. Skip it if you were picturing a clean, uniform gem — the faceted gemstone or the American Diamond version is the better call there.
For men, briefly
Citrine isn't only styled for women here. The Citrine Solitaire Silver Ear Studs for Men carry the same American Diamond solitaire as the women's November piece, and the Citrine Stud Earrings for Men are set in genuine citrine. Both get skipped in most birthstone write-ups for no real reason.
The metal itself
Each piece here is genuine 925 sterling silver, stamped, finished with our R-Coat™ anti-tarnish coating. The silver is tested by the Sheffield Assay Office (UK) against limits set for prolonged skin contact and comes back nickel-free, cadmium-free and lead-free.
Genuine citrine and other natural stones we work with sit in the natural gemstone collection, and the American Diamond versions are part of the wider birthstone collection, which covers all twelve months. If a pendant is what you're actually deciding between, the pendant range is worth a look, and our birthstones by month guide has the full list if November isn't the one you came for.
